Blarney Stone Craft

In Ireland, the Blarney Stone is found at the famous Blarney Castle. This world-famous attraction features a long and winding spiral staircase. At the top, the Blarney Stone sits waiting for people to kiss it. The legend is that people who kiss the Blarney Stone will be given the gift of eloquence when speaking. Here’s a cute craft for a preschooler that will let her have a pet blarney stone.

Materials:

  • 1 flat and smooth rock
  • Green paint
  • Wiggly eyes
  • Craft glue
  • Paintbrush
  • Decorations, such as glitter, yarn, markers, or buttons

Instructions:

  1. Wash the rock and let it dry.
  2. Paint the rock with green paint, then let it dry.
  3. Once it is completely dry, glue on a set of eyes. This is the side the face will go on.
  4. Help the child create the rest of the face with the decorations. Try using sequins for a mouth and yarn for hair. Draw eyelashes in with a marker. Let all the glue dry.

A Preschooler’s Own Pot of Gold

St. Patrick’s Day wouldn’t be complete without a pot of gold from the end of a rainbow. Here’s a unique idea to help a child create her own special pot of gold.

Materials:

  • Decorations, such as gold glitter, sequins, or anything else sparkly
  • Gold wrapped chocolate coins

Instructions:

  1. Turn the bowl upside down and have the child paint it green. Let the paint dry completely.
  2. Help the child decorate the bowl with any of the sparkling decorations.
  3. Once the glue dries, add some chocolate covered coins to complete the “Pot O Gold!”

Instructions:

  1. Let the child pick her favorite leprechaun and color it.

  3. Help the child glue the leprechaun to the craft stick. Allow to dry.

Try this same craft with rainbows and shamrocks.
